You may have to shorten the cable by making your own stops by attaching a U-bolt to one end after you pull the cablevision tight? |

| 2009-April-14 9:eleven pm Yeah, cheque to run across if your belt is stretched. Replacing information technology may exist all that's needed. Too verify that the engagement cable is anchored deeply on both ends. The cable on my previous craftsman tractor was very sturdy. I don't call back it would ever stretch enough that it couldn't engage the blades. Likewise something else to check is the pulleys. Make certain they're all engage properly. |

HarryH3 | 2009-Apr-16 12:15 am I likewise take an LT1000. My cable has cleaved before, but it didn't stretch before that happened. Sounds like it'due south fourth dimension to pull the mower deck and look closely at the mechanism that engages the blades. Something may be loose or worn, preventing the pulley from making its total travel. Just lubricating all of the pin points makes mine operate MUCH easier. |

| 2009-Apr-16 ix:55 am Yea, information technology for sure needs a lube job. Estimate Im getting dirty Sabbatum cause my grass is half-dozen" already and in demand of a haircut. Guess i'll be breaking out the file to acuminate up the blades while Im at it. Friend of mine suggested to go to Sears, check out a new mowers mechanics, maybe Im missing something real uncomplicated? |

HarryH3 | 2009-April-16 10:00 am Cheque that both ends of the cable housing are secured properly. The terminate downwards at the mower deck is held in identify with a plastic spacer and a small hitch clip. If the cable housing tin can move, then the cable itself can't do its job. Money saving tip: When the cable on mine broke, I found that Sears wanted $25 + shipping for a new i. I bought a bundle of assorted bicycle cables for almost $3 at Walmart and installed a new cable into the old sheath and clamped the end. It's worked groovy for 2 summers. |

| 2009-Apr-17 v:01 am check the chugalug, information technology's probably stretched past the range at which the blade appointment lever was designed for, the mechanism has a design range, and if the belt is too loose, it'll never engage the blades.. |

| 2009-Apr-20 4:40 pm OK, it isnt the cable at all. Its dirt and rust! What I did was WD-40'd every moving office that could exist lubed. I starting pulling and pushing on the belt and saw exactly how the engagement pully moved. Once I saw exactly what was going on, I sprayed the hell out of it. LAter oiled information technology up including the cable where it enters the sheath. Jumped on information technology, cranked her up and engaged that sucka without a problem, (nice and smooth actually) I remember shes good, at least for now!!! Thanks all! |
